*Widmanstätten structures are present in certain metallic meteorites and lithosiderites. They result from the intergrowth of taenite and kamacite bands (two iron [Fe] and nickel [Ni] alloys), produced by very slow cooling over a prolonged period, on the order of 100 to 10,000 °C/Ma. This explains why this structure cannot be reproduced in the laboratory.
