MONT TESSALIT 001, Eucrite Meteorite (Achondrite of Vesta)
Cut specimen of monomictic brecciated EUCRITE MONT TESSALIT 001 that weighs 11.2 grams and measures ± 6.3 x 4.7 cm. In it we can appreciate its very beautiful brecciated lithology, with white plagioclase inclusions as well as an area with very aesthetic fusion crust. Despite being a meteorite found in northwest Africa, it has its own name as the exact coordinates of the place where it was found are known, something that gives it added value.
Thanks to studies, it has been proven that HED-type meteorites (Howardites, Eucrites and Diogenites) come from the asteroid Vesta, so they are differentiated rocky-type meteorites, that is, achondrites.
Found in 2021
Northwest Africa, Algeria
