Spectacular piece of ± 20 x 18 cms, with 1 sea star of ± 12.1 cms of perfectly preserved diameter.
Incredible conservation of a fossil starfish of the genus Stenaster. Intact specimens of starfish are quite uncommon in the fossil record. The specimen shows an incredible amount of detail and the coloration is natural, it is due to the oxidation of the iron pyrite.
The stone is split but does not affect the fossil at all.
