Oreodont: "member of a diverse group of extinct North American artiodactyl herbivores
that lived between 40 and 5.3 M.A. Although the best known species, such as Leptauchenia
and Merycoidodon, are often compared to sheep in size and shape, oreodontes
they are usually considered members of the Typlopoda suborder (the group that contains the camels).
